Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy extended Ramzan greetings at an ‘Dawat-e-Iftar’ event organized by the State government in Hyderabad. He stated that the Congress party had provided 4% Muslim reservation in the past, and assured that this reservation would continue in Telangana. AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi also attended the event.
Revanth Reddy emphasized that the Congress party is secular and works for all communities. He mentioned that the presence of minorities, AIMIM MLAs and MLCs at the event reflects the party’s commitment to secularism. The Chief Minister also promised to launch more schemes for minority welfare during this holy month of Ramzan.
During a public meeting, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had reportedly suggested abolishing the 4% Muslim reservation in Telangana. However, Revanth Reddy reiterated that neither Amit Shah nor Narendra Modi could remove this reservation in the state. He highlighted the Congress party’s history of providing minority loans and promised further initiatives for minority welfare.
Revanth Reddy also announced plans to appoint a minority vice chancellor in one of the universities in Telangana. He emphasized the importance of developing Old city, referred to as ‘Original Hyderabad,’ and promised infrastructural development in the area. The Chief Minister also mentioned upcoming job notifications for minorities and the significance of LB Stadium for the Congress party.
Asaduddin Owaisi praised the peace and harmony in Telangana and expressed hope that the Congress party would continue to promote these values. The iftar party was attended by Muslim leaders from the Congress party, AIMIM MLAs, religious scholars, and other dignitaries.
