Hyderabad: The Telangana government has officially implemented a new system for categorising Scheduled Caste (SC) communities in the state, starting today. This marks a major change in how reservation benefits are distributed among different SC groups.
A cabinet sub-committee is meeting at 11 a.m. today to finalise the details of this categorisation. They will also release a Government Order (GO) explaining the new policy. The first copy of this GO will be given to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
The new system divides SC communities into three separate groups. This is being done to make the distribution of the 15 percent SC reservation quota fairer and more balanced.
Under the new plan:
– Group I communities will get 1 percent of the total SC reservation.
– Group II communities will receive 9 percent.
– Group III communities will be given the remaining 5 percent.
This move is meant to reduce inequality among SC groups and give fairer representation based on their current social and economic status. It is expected that this decision will lead to discussions and reactions from both political leaders and the public in the coming days.
