Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy has urged farmers in Mahbubnagar, Telangana not to believe false reports about a shortage of fertilizers. He assured them that he has instructed the relevant authorities to ensure that there are enough fertilizer stocks available where needed. The minister also emphasized that action will be taken against those spreading false information and misleading farmers about the availability of urea.
To prevent any illegal activities such as black marketing or hoarding that could create an artificial demand for fertilizers, the state government is closely monitoring the situation. Currently, there are over 2.18 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of urea available to farmers in the state. This includes 90,000 MT with private dealers, 41,000 MT with primary agricultural cooperative societies, 81,000 MT with Markfed, and 6,000 MT at company warehouses. Additionally, there are also 7.57 lakh metric tonnes of other types of fertilizers available for farmers. The government is also making arrangements to provide an additional 18,000 MT of urea in the next four days.
