Hyderabad: The Justice PC Ghose Commission is nearing the end of its term in July, examining the Kaleshwaram project. The state government is struggling to provide all necessary documents for the project’s approval and its three barrages. Some critical files have reportedly disappeared. The irrigation department managed to submit some documents by the June 30 deadline.
Officials revealed that key documents were missing, which were essential to the inquiry. The Commission demanded all cabinet meeting minutes related to the approval of Kaleshwaram and its barrages. Notably, the Medigadda barrage might have been built without formal sanction, and this information has been shared with the Commission.
Authorities acknowledged that important documents related to Kaleshwaram are missing. Irrigation officials have asked for more time to gather complete project details due to the absence of these files.
Jala Soudha, the main office for irrigation, was responsible for preparing project documents. Officials indicated that gathering information from the Executive Engineers-in-Chief (ENCs) would take time. Senior officials from the Finance and General Administration Departments are actively searching for the missing cabinet meeting records, with both departments working hard to retrieve these essential files.
