Hyderabad faced strong winds and rain on Saturday evening, which caused part of the roof at the newly opened Charlapalli Railway Terminal to collapse. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The metal sheets covering the entrance roof gave way during the sudden weather change. According to railway officials, the structure couldn’t withstand the force of the wind and broke apart.
The Charlapalli Terminal, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2024, was built to ease traffic at the city’s main stations—Secunderabad, Nampally, and Kacheguda. The project cost around ₹500 crore and includes modern features like nine platforms, elevators, escalators, and large parking areas.
After the collapse, railway staff quickly arrived to assess the damage and started repair work immediately. Despite the incident, passenger services continued without disruption, and the terminal remained fully operational.
Officials assured that safety checks will be strengthened to prevent similar problems in the future.
