Hyderabad: N. Ramchander Rao, President of the Telangana BJP, expressed approval of the Mumbai NIA court’s decision to acquit seven individuals involved in the 2008 Malegaon blast case.
Speaking to the media, Rao criticized the Congress Party, accusing them of conspiring to harm national security and disrupt community peace. Following the court’s decision, he urged Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and former Union Home Minister Chidambaram to apologize for promoting the “Hindu Terror” narrative.
“The Malegaon acquittal shows truth triumphing over political schemes,” Rao stated. He believed the verdict countered politically driven accusations made by the Congress.
Rao also praised the Supreme Court’s order to the Telangana Assembly Speaker. The court asked the Speaker to decide on disqualification petitions against MLAs who switched from the BRS to the Congress within three months. Rao highlighted this as a win for democratic accountability, condemning the misuse of the Anti-Defection Law.
“In the past, BRS engaged in defections. Now, Congress follows suit. Such actions violate electoral mandates and democratic values,” he remarked. Addressing the Congress’s Janahita Padayatra, Rao questioned their commitment to public welfare. He accused the Congress of failing to fulfill promises to various societal groups, including youth, BCs, SCs, STs, women, farmers, and students.
“Congress made numerous promises to gain power but has not delivered on its six guarantees or manifesto commitments,” Rao argued. He demanded a public report from the Congress on their progress. “Only then can they justify their public welfare claims,” he added.
Rao accused the Congress of deceit and political opportunism while reaffirming the BJP’s dedication to transparent governance and the protection of democratic institutions. His comments come amid increased political tensions in Telangana over party defections and governance integrity. On the same day, Rao, along with BJP leaders, honored Captain Veera Raja Reddy on his death anniversary at Habsiguda.
