Telangana Government Reshuffles IAS Officers, M. Raghunandan Rao Appointed As Secy, Revenue
In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Telangana government has announced a series of IAS transfers. Aimed at enhancing governance and streamlining departmental operations, these changes come as part of the state’s ongoing administrative reforms.
Mr. M. Raghunandan Rao, a 2002-batch IAS officer currently serving as the Commercial Taxes Commissioner, has been given Full Additional Charge (FAC) as Secretary to the Government in the Revenue (Commercial Taxes & Excise) department. This move is set to stabilize the revenue framework amidst critical state-level tax reforms. Rao’s appointment follows the voluntary retirement of senior IAS officer Mr. Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi, effective from October 31.
Meanwhile, the energy and religious affairs sectors are also seeing fresh administrative leadership. Mr. S. Harish, a 2015-batch IAS officer and the present Chairman and Managing Director of TGGenco, has been assigned FAC of Director, Endowments. This assignment is expected to improve the synergy between the state’s energy and religious departments. Harish’s appointment has relieved Ms. Shailaja Ramaiyer from her FAC responsibilities.
In a bid to revamp core infrastructure departments, Mr. Bhavesh Mishra, currently serving as Deputy Secretary in the Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (ITE&C) department, will now also assume the role of Director of Mines and Geology. This shift is expected to accelerate mining policies in line with digital governance and sustainability goals.
Enhancement of grassroots governance is also on the cards with strategic district-level reposting. Ms. Garima Agrawal, a 2019-batch IAS officer, has been transferred from Siddipet to Rajanna-Sircilla district to serve as Additional Collector (Local Bodies). Agrawal’s new assignment is expected to bring her field-level experience to a region witnessing numerous developmental projects and increasing civic engagement.
