The Telangana government is planning to set up a large Information Technology (IT) Knowledge Hub in Puppalaguda. This new IT hub will cover 450 acres of land.
This decision comes after the Supreme Court ruled that 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli, originally meant for an IT park, should not be disturbed. This cleared the way for the government to move forward with the Puppalaguda project.
A high-level meeting was recently held to discuss the project. It was led by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu.
According to Mr. Vikramarka, the main aim of the project is to strengthen Hyderabad’s IT infrastructure. The hub is expected to create job opportunities for around 5 lakh (500,000) young people.
The land set aside for this IT hub includes areas in Puppalaguda that were once given to housing societies for MLAs, MPs, IAS officers, and revenue officials. The Supreme Court has now canceled these land allocations, making the land available again.
Additionally, 250 acres of land from the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC), located next to Puppalaguda, will also be included in the IT hub project.
