Hyderabad: The Telangana State government is likely to ask the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions for more time before releasing Andhra Pradesh (AP) cadre IAS officers who are currently working in Telangana. Recently, the Ministry instructed these AP cadre IAS officers to return to their home state.

According to sources, the Telangana government has the right to request an extension before relieving these officers. In the past, the Ministry has agreed to such requests. Two key officials, Amrapali and Ronald Rose, hold important positions in Telangana. Amrapali is the GHMC Commissioner and is overseeing the Musi Riverfront Development project. Ronald Rose is the State Energy Secretary and is working on strengthening the energy department.

Letting these officers go immediately could slow down the progress of major projects. Because of this, the Telangana government plans to send a letter to the Ministry, asking for more time to keep these officers in their current roles until the work is completed.

If the central government denies this request, the Telangana government might consider asking for AP’s help. This would involve requesting an agreement between the two states to allow the IAS officers to continue working in Telangana for a longer period. However, this option will only be explored if the Centre says no to the initial request.

It’s important to note that the Union government previously rejected a request from the AP cadre IAS officers to stay in Telangana, instructing them to report to their home cadre immediately.
