Telangana Tourism had an impressive introduction at the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA 2025) Tourism Expo in Nagoya, Japan, hosted at the Aichi Sky Expo.
Debjani Chakrabarti, the Economic and Commercial Minister at the Indian Embassy in Tokyo, inaugurated the Telangana pavilion. She was joined by Bendala Mahesh Kumar, General Manager of Marketing & PR for Telangana Tourism Development Corporation, and Kavali Chandrakanth, a consultant for the Youth Advancement, Tourism & Culture (YAT&C) Department.
The Telangana stall quickly became a favorite among international travelers, tour operators, and media. Featuring the slogan ‘Telangana Zarur Aana’ (Telangana, Do Come), the pavilion encouraged visitors to discover the state’s rich heritage, vibrant traditions, and varied tourism opportunities.
A standout feature was the Buddhist Circuit, highlighting historical sites like Bavapur-Kurru, Kotalingala, Dhulikatta, Kondapur, Phanigiri, Nelakondapalli, and Nagarjuna Konda. The focus on Buddhavanam at Nagarjuna Sagar as a world-class spiritual tourism center resonated well, especially with Japanese attendees who have a strong connection to Buddhism.
The cultural section showcased Telangana’s artistic wealth. The UNESCO-listed Ramappa Temple, famous for its unique floating bricks and intricate carvings, captivated the crowd. Traditional handicrafts, including Cheriyal scroll paintings, Nirmal toys, and Pochampally Ikkat, displayed timeless craftsmanship. Visitors also enjoyed local dishes like Sarva Pindi and Sakinalu, adding a taste of regional flavor to their experience.
Officials noted that this debut at JATA 2025 marks a significant step for Telangana in global tourism, opening doors to new collaborations, cultural exchanges, and international visitors. The state is now firmly on the global tourism map.
