The Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are facing unusual weather. Residents are enduring intense heat, with temperatures rising even after recent rains. This heat is causing discomfort and health issues.
Weather experts say the rise in temperatures, reaching over 40 degrees Celsius in many places, is due to a slower monsoon and the Rohini Karte phenomenon. The Amaravati Meteorological Centre predicts temperatures might hit 41 degrees Celsius in several districts on Thursday. Andhra Pradesh could see temperatures increase by 2 to 3 degrees in the next two days.
Districts such as Vizianagaram, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Kakinada, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, and Krishna are likely to experience high temperatures between 40 and 41 degrees Celsius. Light to moderate rain might occur in Bapatla and Palnadu districts.
On Wednesday, Jangameshwarapur saw the highest temperature at 41 degrees Celsius, followed by Narsapur at 40.9 degrees. Kavali and Nellore reached 39.6 degrees, Tuni and Gannavaram at 39.4 degrees, Nandyal at 39 degrees, YSR Kadapa at 38.2 degrees, and Tirupati at 38 degrees.
In Telangana, the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre reports similar warm conditions. The slow southwest monsoon is causing temperatures to rise. Light rain and gusty winds up to 30 to 40 kilometers per hour are expected in some districts on Thursday and Friday. Nalgonda and Bhadrachalam could see maximum temperatures of 38 degrees Celsius, while Mahabubnagar might have a minimum of 34 degrees.
