Former Tennessee lawmaker Justin Jones, who was expelled from the state’s legislature for demanding stricter gun control laws, has been sent back to his seat on an interim basis by the Nashville Metropolitan Council. Jones and another Black Democratic colleague were expelled by Republican lawmakers last week, while a white woman who joined their protest was not removed, sparking accusations of racism. President Joe Biden has invited all three lawmakers to the White House, while Vice President Kamala Harris attended a rally in Nashville in support of the “Tennessee Three.” The seat previously held by the other expelled Black lawmaker, Justin Pearson, will be discussed on Wednesday.
