Hyderabad – The Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGDA) has called on the State government to lift the current ban on staff transfers and urgently fill vacant professor positions in major government medical colleges.

On Wednesday, TGDA leaders met with Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha to discuss the issue. They handed over a formal request, highlighting the growing faculty shortages at Osmania Medical College, Gandhi Medical College, and Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal.

According to TGDA, these teaching hospitals are facing a serious lack of senior faculty members. This shortage is affecting both postgraduate (PG) medical training and patient care.

The association noted that many faculty positions already approved by the government remain unfilled. At the same time, several qualified professors are waiting for transfers from other regions. TGDA urged the minister to allow these transfers into existing vacancies, stressing that this would not place any extra cost on the State.

They specifically requested that the transfer ban be relaxed for the role of Professors across various departments in government medical colleges, including the one in Nizamabad.

TGDA believes that filling these posts through internal transfers will help strengthen the quality of medical education and improve healthcare services for the public.
