Hyderabad: In Nalgonda district, the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) discovered many people pretending to be qualified doctors. These individuals were running hospitals and claimed to practice allopathic medicine without the necessary credentials.

Following orders from TGMC Registrar Dr. Lalayya and Chairman Dr. Mahesh Kumar, a team led by Vice Chairman Dr. Gundagani Srinivas and Member Dr. Vishnu inspected these illegal clinics in Devarakonda, Nalgonda district.

The team found several impostors practicing medicine. Rajeshwara Rao was running the Rajeshwara Rao Clinic in Devarakonda. Padmavati operated the Srinivas Poly Clinic in Mall Town, while Jahangir ran an allopathic clinic using a fake Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree. Santosh was found managing the Maharshi Clinic under the name of an MBBS doctor, Venkat Reddy.

Further checks revealed R Ramesh, an optometrist, was performing eye surgeries and prescribing antibiotics at Akshara Hospital. Another person named Ramesh falsely claimed to be an MBBS and MD specialist at Padmavati Hospital. When asked, these individuals could not provide valid degree certificates, despite claiming Russian medical qualifications.

The inspections showed these unqualified people were giving patients high doses of antibiotics and steroids without proper reasons. The TGMC stressed that legally, allopathic clinics cannot operate without a license, and the notion of providing allopathic medicine as “first aid” is baseless and illegal.
