Hyderabad celebrated World Environment Day with a special green project led by the city’s traffic police and local activists. They moved a Peltophorum tree that was causing traffic issues near Manju Theatre Lane under the Mahankali traffic police station.
G Shankar Raju, the ACP of Traffic North Zone, explained that the tree’s position and big branches were blocking vehicles and creating a hazard for drivers. With permission, the tree was safely moved to Mehboob College in Secunderabad. The initiative aimed to protect the environment while making roads safer. This move has significantly reduced traffic problems, especially improving the flow from Taj Belson Lane to Paradise Junction. GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan visited the site and praised the efforts. During the visit, ACP Shankar Raju and activist Jalandar Goud gave him a mango sapling, highlighting the importance of caring for the environment.
ACP Shankar Raju stated that caring for the environment means not just planting but also protecting trees. They will continue to watch the tree’s growth in its new home, showing a commitment to urban sustainability and green practices.
