Gadwal: The Gattu police took firm action against illegal sand transport on Tuesday by seizing a tipper truck loaded with sand and filing charges against those involved. Sub-Inspector (SI) K.T. Mallesh stated that the operation stemmed from reliable information about unlicensed sand storage and sales.

The main suspect, Anjaneyulu from Ellandoddi village, allegedly moved sand from Karnataka without permits. Once in Telangana, the sand was dumped and illegally stored near Ellandoddi. Reports indicate Anjaneyulu sold the sand at high prices, breaking state laws and harming the environment.

During the raid, police not only took the tipper truck but also confiscated the illicitly stored sand. The Revenue Inspector (RI) supervised the operation, and a formal record of the seizure was made. The seized sand was then sent to the local Tehsildar’s office for further action.

    • Anjaneyulu – accused of leading the illegal sand operations,
    • Muddu Ranganayak – owner of the tipper truck,
    • Nandappa Jayaram – driver of the truck involved in the illegal transport.

SI K.T. Mallesh emphasized that strict measures will be taken against lawbreakers and warned that similar operations will continue to fight illegal sand mining and transport in the district. This incident highlights the importance of strict monitoring of sand transportation, particularly near borders like Telangana-Karnataka.

Authorities urge citizens to report any unauthorized activities to local officials to protect natural resources and ensure compliance with legal processes.
