Hyderabad: Union Minister Kishan Reddy recently watched the film Jitender Reddy, which tells the story of the nationalist leader Jitender Reddy. Directed by Virinchi Varma, who is known for his previous works Uyyala Jampala and Majnu, the film focuses on the real-life events of the 1980s in Jagtial. It showcases Jitender Reddy’s struggles as he fought for the rights of marginalized communities.
Rakesh Varre plays the role of Jitender Reddy in the movie, portraying the leader’s dedication to his cause, even in the face of personal danger. The film, which was released on November 8th, has been praised for its accurate depiction of Reddy’s life and the historical events surrounding him.
During the film’s screening, Union Minister Kishan Reddy shared his personal experiences with Jitender Reddy from their time together in the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha. He remembered Jitender Reddy as a leader who always stood up for the weaker sections of society. “He was committed to his work, even when it meant putting his own life at risk,” the minister said.
The movie highlights key moments from Jitender Reddy’s life, including his role in organizing a major rally for Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Warangal. Reddy arranged transport for 50 buses from Jagtial to ensure the event’s success. The film also portrays the tragic end to his life when he was killed by Naxalites, who fired 72 bullets at him. Through this powerful scene, the movie sends a clear message that violence is not a solution for societal change.
Minister Kishan Reddy also praised Rakesh Varre for his portrayal of Jitender Reddy, noting how effectively the actor captured the leader’s spirit and dedication. He also commended director Virinchi Varma for thoughtfully bringing these historical events to life.
The film features additional performances from actors Vaishali Raj and Rhea Suman. The technical crew includes cinematographer VS Gnana Shekhar and music director Gopi Sunder, whose contributions have further enhanced the film’s impact.
Kishan Reddy emphasized the broader message of the film, highlighting the importance of democracy and non-violence. Quoting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, he said, “The ballot is stronger than the bullet,” and urged those engaging in violence to instead choose democratic means to bring about change.
