In NagarKurnool, a major operation was carried out to stop the illegal transport of black jaggery, which is used to make illicit liquor. Working together with excise enforcement officials, authorities managed to seize a DCM vehicle carrying 2,250 kilograms of black jaggery. The jaggery is estimated to be worth ₹12 lakhs. Along with this, they also confiscated 5 liters of illicit liquor. The vehicle was stopped early on Sunday morning near the Bijinapally bus stand after the officials received a tip-off.
The officials identified two individuals involved in supplying the black jaggery. The suppliers were Putta Srinivas from Devuni Thirumalapur in Peddakothapally mandal and Mudavath Pratap from Vattipalli Tanda in Telkapally mandal. They were supplying the jaggery to rural areas in Achampet, Kalwakurthy, and Kollapur to produce illicit liquor. While one person was arrested, the other, Mudavath Pratap, managed to escape.
The operation was led by AES Srinivas along with CIs Balakrishna Reddy, Venkateshwar Reddy, Sharada, and SI Srujan Rao. Other team members, including Chandrayya, Suryam, Muninder, and Janardhan, were also involved in the successful operation. The Assistant Commissioner of Excise Enforcement, Vijay Bhaskar Reddy, praised the team’s efforts and acknowledged their hard work in stopping the illegal activity.
