Warangal MP Dr. Kadiyam Kavya has urged the Indian government to establish an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Telangana. She highlighted in the Lok Sabha that Telangana is the only state without an IIM, despite having the necessary infrastructure and land.

During the Monsoon Session of Parliament, Dr. Kavya questioned whether the government had received any proposals from Telangana and why there was a delay in setting up an IIM in Hyderabad.

In response, Minister of State for Education Dr. Sukanta Majumdar stated that there is currently no proposal to establish an IIM in Hyderabad. He mentioned that India has 21 IIMs, with 7 new ones opened in 2015–2016.

Dr. Kavya’s comments revived the call for a top-level management institute in Telangana. She pointed out that Hyderabad, which already hosts institutions like the Indian School of Business (ISB) and IIT-Hyderabad, is ready to accommodate an IIM and fulfill the educational needs of local youth.
