Adilabad: The Badi Baata school enrolment campaign is back from June 6 to 12. Education officials in the Adilabad district are working hard to regain trust in government schools. Last year, over 100 schools shut down due to no student attendance. The Education Department is now taking steps to keep schools open in remote areas and prevent more closures. In the past, schools in Adilabad (32), Nirmal (45), and Kumram Bheem Asifabad (34) closed due to no students and changes in teacher assignments and administration.
Some government schools now match private ones in performance, but differences remain. While a few schools excel, many lack basic facilities, causing parents to prefer private schools.
Adilabad district currently has 1,256 government schools with 125,293 students. Nirmal has 822 schools with 112,385 students. Kumram Bheem Asifabad has 1,122 schools with 82,979 students. Mancherial has 821 schools with 105,354 students.
District Education Officer Srinivas Reddy emphasized the importance of Badi Baata this year. “Enrolment is rising steadily. From June 13, staff adjustments will follow new guidelines,” he said, hoping for ongoing improvement after the campaign.
