Hyderabad: Former President Ram Nath Kovind praised Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya as a remarkable and respected leader. This admiration was shared during a gathering at Silpakala Vedika, where Mr. Kovind released the Telugu version of Dattatreya’s autobiography, “Prajala Kathe Naa Atmakatha.”
The event saw the presence of notable figures such as former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Governors Indrasena Reddy of Tripura, Kambampati Haribabu of Odisha, and Syed Abdul Nazeer of Andhra Pradesh. Kovind highlighted Dattatreya’s lifelong commitment to helping those in need. He recounted Dattatreya’s courage during difficult times like the Emergency, where he uplifted others. Kovind also mentioned Dattatreya’s significant contributions as Union Minister for Labour and Employment, where his reforms in wages and welfare helped many. The large turnout at the book launch was likened to a birthday celebration for the Governor.
Venkaiah Naidu spoke about the rare gathering of respected leaders honoring a man with a “golden heart.” He admired Dattatreya’s dedication to public service and his humble lifestyle, which sets a strong example for future generations. Naidu compared Dattatreya’s integrity to a water droplet on a lotus leaf.
Naidu also expressed concern about politicians frequently switching parties, praising Dattatreya for staying true to his beliefs and focusing on meaningful politics that prioritize nationalism and societal well-being.
Governors from Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Tripura, and Telangana praised Dattatreya’s friendly and approachable nature, which has won him many admirers. Known affectionately as “Dattanna” (brother), he has built strong relationships by addressing people’s concerns. They noted his dedication to rural development and promoting social harmony and unity. The Governors of Tripura and Odisha shared personal stories about Dattatreya, highlighting his enduring influence on younger generations.
Former Supreme Court Chief Justice N V Ramana emphasized Dattatreya’s focus on human relationships. Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy, Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma, Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav, Telangana Road and Buildings Minister Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy, and BJP MP Dr K Laxman also shared their experiences with Dattatreya. They remembered his significant work as an RSS Pracharak during the Divineema Cyclone relief efforts, his role in creating the Deen Dayal Housing Colony for displaced people, and the establishment of a 300-bed ESI hospital in Visakhapatnam. Dattatreya’s initiatives, such as the Valmiki Ambedkar Awas Yojana houses in Musheerabad and Visakhapatnam, demonstrate his deep commitment to aiding the poor and needy.
