The issue of providing cottages/rooms to donors at the Sri Yadagirigutta Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple has been pending for two years. In the past, there were cottages on the temple premises that were built with donations to help devotees stay overnight during their journey. However, these cottages were demolished during the temple’s renovation, leaving no provision for staying on the hills.
Now, devotees visit the shrine, have darshan, and leave the town. Those who need to spend a night as part of their tradition are staying in hotels in the town. Donors who had contributed to building the cottages are asking for alternatives to compensate for their loss. Some donors had contributed in memory of their elders and are requesting alternate land from the government to assist in constructing new cottages.
The temple authorities have suggested that donors pay for rooms in the presidential suites being constructed in the town. However, donors feel that the government should first compensate them before asking for payment. The donors are requesting a decision from the authorities so that they can benefit from having cottages again.
Donors who contributed to building cottages will be provided rooms for 30 days a year during their temple visits. They must inform temple authorities in advance to reserve a room. Sources say that an alternative place at Peddagutta has been proposed for the donors, but a decision is pending from the authorities at Yadagirigutta.
Despite requests for a decision, the authorities at Yadagirigutta have yet to take action, leaving donors confused. Efforts to reach the executive officer for comment were unsuccessful.
