    Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to help Indians who are stuck in Sudan, a country that is experiencing war. He called for a plan to be made to evacuate Indian citizens and discussed other options during a meeting with officials. The meeting was attended by several important people, including the External Affairs Minister and the National Security Advisor. Modi received a report about the situation in Sudan and checked on the safety of over 3,000 Indian citizens currently in the country. He expressed his condolences for an Indian national who died last week and reminded officials to stay vigilant and monitor developments in Sudan. The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of staying in communication with other countries in the region to ensure citizen safety.

    The fighting in Sudan began on April 14 between two military forces, one controlled by General Abdel Fattah Burhan and another led by General Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo. After a coup in 2021, they had been sharing power but had differences that broke their arrangement. There are around 4,000 Indians in Sudan, with 1,500 being longtime residents. One Indian ex-serviceman, Albert Augustine, was killed by a bullet while working in Sudan.
