Hyderabad is witnessing a groundbreaking 10-day Research Methodology Course (RMC) at the Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE), starting October 6 and concluding on October 16, 2025. This course, backed by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), focuses on using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in social science research and takes place at the IPE campus in Osmania University.
This program is tailored for M.Phil., Ph.D., and Post-Doctoral researchers in social sciences. It aims to provide young scholars with modern AI and Machine Learning (ML) skills to improve research quality and promote ethical practices and interdisciplinary cooperation. Supported by ICSSR’s Training and Capacity Building program, this course is free, with travel and daily allowances covered based on eligibility.
Organized by IPE’s Centre for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, the course is led by Prof. S Sreenivasa Murthy, Director of IPE, and Dr. Shaheen, Associate Professor of IT & Analytics, as the Course Director. Dr. Sagyan Sagarika Mohanty, Assistant Professor of Marketing, is the Co-Director.
Participants will receive practical training in Python, R, Tableau, and Power BI, along with lessons on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and both supervised and unsupervised learning. Ethical frameworks, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, are also covered.
The curriculum includes visits to policy labs like T-Hub and NIRDPR, mentoring for refining research proposals, and guidance on publishing in Scopus and ABDC-indexed journals.
Dr. Shaheen highlighted the importance of social scientists adopting new tools for data-driven insights, stating that this course helps scholars create impactful and ethically sound research.
The course offers limited seats on a first-come, first-served basis, with nominations closing on September 15, 2025. This RMC at IPE, with its combination of technical, ethical, and publication support, aims to advance social science research modernization in India.
