Hyderabad: The Telangana Backward Classes (BC) Commission has decided to suggest that the government give first priority to the poorest people from the most backward BC castes when providing Indiramma houses.
This decision was made during a meeting held on Wednesday. Last month, the Commission visited areas like Vemulawada, Jagityal, Sircilla, Amangal, and Achampeta to study the living conditions of nomadic communities. The Commission said that these communities urgently need housing and job opportunities. It also asked the government to help them get support from banks, especially through the Rajiv Yuva Vikas Scheme.
The Commission passed a resolution asking the government to give the State BC Commission the same powers as the National BC Commission. It also plans to review the re-inclusion of 26 castes that were removed from the BC list after Telangana became a separate state.
The Commission said it could make better and faster decisions if the Planning Department shares the data from the 2024 Caste Survey.
Lastly, the Commission passed another resolution requesting both the Central and State governments to quickly pass a law that gives 42 percent reservation to Backward Classes. It also asked all political parties and caste-based groups to support this move.
