Hyderabad: As Hanuman Jayanti approaches, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand has urged event organisers to stay alert during the upcoming Sri Veera Hanuman Vijaya Yatra. He asked them to be cautious about any new individuals joining the procession and to immediately inform the local police if they notice anything suspicious. Additionally, he requested that DJ systems not be used during the event.
To ensure safety, the Hyderabad City Police will deploy about 17,000 police officers along with additional armed forces. Commissioner Anand asked for cooperation with the traffic police to avoid traffic jams during the Yatra. These details were shared during a coordination meeting with various government departments and Yatra organisers. The main procession will take place on Saturday to mark Hanuman Jayanti.
The meeting was held on Wednesday at the Osmania Medical College Auditorium in Koti. It was attended by officials from the Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda Police Commissionerates. Members from groups such as the Telangana Rashtra Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad were also present, as well as officers from departments including GHMC, Roads & Buildings, Fire Services, Electricity, Transport, Health, and others.
During the meeting, the Commissioner stressed the importance of holding the Yatra peacefully. He reminded organisers again not to use DJ systems, saying that it would help reduce noise pollution and protect public health. He suggested using large speakers without sound mixers instead.
Specific instructions were also given about the height of idols in the procession. Organisers were told to make sure no idol is taller than the railway bridge to avoid traffic route changes.
With possible rain expected on Saturday, according to the weather department, the Commissioner directed GHMC and traffic police to take precautions. He also recommended that organisers train more volunteers to help manage the event better and stick to the approved route to keep things running smoothly.
Commissioner Anand noted that around 150 Vijaya Yatras are expected within Hyderabad City Police limits, and around 46 more will come from areas under Cyberabad and Rachakonda Police. All these processions will merge into the main Yatra.
He also warned the public and organisers not to believe or spread rumours or fake messages on social media that could cause panic.
Later, officials inspected the Yatra route, which starts from Sri Rama Mandir in Gouli Guda and goes through Narayana Guda, RTC Chowrasta, Ashok Nagar, Kavadi Guda, and Bible House before ending at the TadBund Hanuman Temple. The route is about 12.2 km long.
All related departments were told to fix any problems found during the inspection and complete any pending work before the event.
