Bhadrachalam witnessed a special tradition on Sunday due to the lunar eclipse. The Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy Temple closed its doors in the afternoon as part of Hindu customs. Devotees had the chance to visit the temple until 12 noon. The temple then closed at 1 pm.
During an eclipse, traditional beliefs consider it inauspicious for spiritual activities. Therefore, a purification process is necessary. Temple officials announced that the temple will reopen on Monday at 3 am. After reopening, the Suprabhata Seva will take place. Priests will then perform cleansing rituals to purify the temple.
These procedures follow the Agama Shastra and Vaikhanasa traditions. Maintaining the temple’s sanctity during such events is crucial.
On Sunday morning, many devotees visited the temple before the closure. Officials advised everyone to respect the timings and cooperate with the arrangements during this spiritual event.
