Gadwal, Telangana – Former BJP district president S. Ramachandra Reddy has strongly criticized the Congress-led Telangana government for failing to help farmers who have been waiting over a month to sell their harvested paddy.
During a visit to Venisompuram village, Reddy, joined by BJP Mandal President Gopalakrishna, met farmers at local paddy procurement centers. He was alarmed that despite harvesting their crop more than 40 days ago, farmers still haven’t received any help from government officials.
Reddy pointed out that even after farmers completed moisture testing for their paddy, officials did not issue procurement tokens for nearly 20 days. This delay has left many farmers anxious and frustrated.
He slammed the Congress government, saying, “They claim to care about farmers, but they can’t even provide basic gunny bags. The promised ₹500 bonus hasn’t been delivered either. Most farmers in Venisompuram, a key agricultural village in Aija mandal, are still waiting for support.”
Adding to the frustration, Reddy said no official or public representative has visited the village to inspect the situation or arrange proper procurement facilities. He also noted that Venisompuram hasn’t been given a Rythu Vedika, a shelter meant to protect harvested crops from rain, wind, or animals.
“This village has been completely ignored. There’s no sign that it’s even on the government’s radar,” Reddy said. He emphasized that farmers are tired of unfulfilled promises and are demanding real action.
He also called the government’s excuse of a gunny bag shortage “ridiculous” and accused the administration of being unprepared and careless when it comes to agricultural welfare.
“The Congress leadership promised to take care of all four crore citizens in the state. But the reality here is far from that promise,” Reddy said.
He warned that if the government doesn’t act quickly—by sending officials, issuing procurement tokens, and beginning loading operations—the BJP will join farmers in a large-scale protest and dharna.
The meeting was attended by BJP Town President Lakshman Goud, Booth Presidents Seenu, Srihari, Basavaraju, and many local farmers. Together, they demanded timely procurement and justice for the struggling farming community.
