Hyderabad is seeing a large rush of people at bus and railway stations as Dasara approaches. Major stations like MGBS and JBS are crowded, but many passengers are facing difficulties due to the low frequency of buses to other districts and neighboring states.
At the bus stations, passengers are waiting two to three hours for buses, especially for district destinations. Long queues are also forming at railway stations, where people are struggling to secure reserved tickets.
On Wednesday, several passengers at Secunderabad railway station complained about the lack of police and railway personnel to manage the crowd. They also requested that more special trains be operated during the festival season.
Many people travel to districts such as Karimnagar, Warangal, and Nizamabad, as well as major towns in Andhra Pradesh like Visakhapatnam and Tirupati. However, most express trains, including the Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express and the Krishna Express, are running at full capacity.
Sunil Reddy, an IT employee, pointed out that buses to Karimnagar are fully booked and only depart every four to five hours. He emphasized that officials are aware of the high demand during Dasara and should ensure more bus services.
Another passenger, Suresh, waiting for a bus to Medak, urged officials to provide special services during the festive season to prevent overcrowding.
Ravi Rao, a rail passenger, shared his frustration, saying he booked his Secunderabad-Vijayawada ticket in July, yet it remains unconfirmed. He now has no choice but to travel in an unreserved coach.
In response to the high demand, the South Central Railway (SCR) is operating around 700 special trains during Bathukamma and Dasara. So far, 1.8 lakh passengers have traveled from Secunderabad, while around 40,000 have traveled from Kachiguda and Hyderabad.
To help meet the demand, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) is running special buses from October 1 to 15 from various locations, including MGBS, JBS, LB Nagar, Uppal, and KPHB.
