Residents of Secunderabad Cantonment will soon receive more drinking water. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has decided to provide an additional 1 Million Gallons per Day (MGD) of water to the Cantonment Board.
This decision was made after HMWSSB Managing Director Ashok Reddy met with Sri Ganesh, the MLA of Secunderabad Cantonment. Recently, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy also directed the water board to increase the water supply to the Cantonment area by 1 MGD.
Currently, there are around 40,000 water connections under the Cantonment Board. At present, the area is being supplied with 5.9 MGD of water. After reviewing the situation, the water board has decided to add another 1 MGD to this supply.
This means that from now on, the total water supply to the Secunderabad Cantonment area will be 6.9 MGD. The water board has already started providing 0.54 MGD of this additional water since last week. The remaining 0.46 MGD will be supplied within the next three to four days.
The Managing Director also recommended that the Cantonment Board should improve its water storage capacity and distribution system. Additionally, the Water Board plans to conduct a survey to identify and regularize any illegal water connections in the Cantonment.
With this additional water supply, the residents of Secunderabad Cantonment can expect a significant improvement in their access to clean drinking water, according to a senior officer from the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB).
