Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asked officials to make the Prajavani public grievance programme more transparent. He wants the district-level activities to be linked with the main Prajavani dashboard at Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan.
In a high-level meeting at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat, the Chief Minister reviewed the Prajavani programme, which is held twice a week. He looked at how many complaints have been received, how many have been solved, and how officials are handling them.
Since the programme started in December 2023, a total of 117 Prajavani sessions have been held. During this time, 54,619 petitions were received from the public. Out of these, 68.4% (37,384 petitions) have already been resolved.
Mr. Reddy said that not only the petitions but also full details about government welfare schemes should be available online. He suggested creating a portal where citizens can easily check who is getting the benefits and how these schemes are being carried out.
Officials shared that special desks have been set up for different departments within Prajavani. This includes a ‘Pravasi Prajavani’ desk to help people from Telangana who are living and working in Gulf countries. Other helpful services, like on-the-spot solutions for urgent issues and ambulance support, are also being provided on Prajavani days.
The Chief Minister asked to be given live access to the Prajavani dashboard. This would allow him to see the types of complaints being submitted and their progress from anywhere. He said this would help him guide officials better and make sure problems are fixed quickly.
He also said that people’s privacy must be protected. A review should be done to decide what information can be shared publicly and what should remain confidential, based on the law. A committee of senior officials will be formed to create clear rules for this.
The meeting was attended by Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, Planning Commission Vice Chairman Chinnareddy, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, Prajavani Nodal Officer Divya, and other senior officials.
