Gadwal: The selection process for the Indiramma Housing Scheme must be fair and transparent, said District Collector B.M. Santosh during a meeting with officials at the IDOC Conference Hall on Wednesday.
He emphasized that the scheme is meant to help poor and eligible families. Out of 50,000 applicants from the Yell-1 list, 7,000 people—3,500 from each of the two Assembly constituencies—will be selected in a transparent manner.
To ensure fairness, special officers have been appointed at the district level. The Collector also said that the entire process of selecting beneficiaries and building houses should be completed before the rainy season begins.
Under the scheme, each selected person can receive up to Rs. 5 lakh as a subsidy. Already, 20 people in pilot villages who have built the basement of their houses have received the first installment of Rs. 1 lakh.
The Collector asked officials to finish selecting 3,500 beneficiaries in each constituency quickly. A special officer has been assigned to check every 200 applications. Indiramma Committees will prepare the list of eligible people and send it to these officers.
He said that field checks must be completed by April 30. Only those who truly qualify should be included, and houses that were abandoned or left incomplete in earlier years should not be allowed under this scheme.
The Collector also shared rules about house size. Each house should be at least 400 sq. ft. but not more than 600 sq. ft. Additional Collectors have been assigned to oversee work in the Gadwal and Alampur constituencies.
The government will transfer funds directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries every Monday, depending on how far construction has progressed. Officials must also upload weekly updates about the housing work using the Village Secretary mobile app. The goal is to finish all construction by the end of May.
He reminded field officials in both rural and urban areas to follow government rules while choosing beneficiaries. He also asked them to speed up the construction work.
Additionally, the Collector said that the last date to submit LRS (Layout Regularization Scheme) applications is April 30. There will be no extension. Officials must quickly clear pending LRS applications where 25% of the rebate has already been paid.
The meeting was attended by Additional Collectors Lakshminarayana and Narsing Rao, special officers, MPDOs, municipal commissioners, and housing department engineers.
