Gadwal: District Collector B.M. Santosh took swift action after students protested about the lack of basic facilities at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule B.C. Boys Gurukula School in Alampur Chowrasta, Undavalli Mandal. The students’ protest reached the roads, prompting the Collector to visit the school on Thursday. He spoke directly with students and staff and ordered officials to address the issues immediately.
The Collector stressed that students should report issues legally and safely to authorities, ensuring their safety is the administration’s priority. He warned that road protests are risky and should not happen again.
In response, Deputy Warden Rajitha and Supervisor Naveen were suspended for negligence. The Principal, Warden, and Housemasters received memos for their lapses. An FIR will be filed against the building owner for allegedly threatening students.
To solve infrastructure problems, the Collector announced the temporary use of four toilets and the construction of new ones within a month. He also emphasized that students must receive meals according to the approved menu.
The Collector ordered the immediate replacement of poor-quality rice with good-quality rice, warning of disciplinary actions for any negligence.
Since the school’s R.O. water plant is not working, he demanded the immediate supply of mineral water to protect students’ health. Teachers were reminded to focus on student health, education, and safety, with regular monitoring.
Surprise Inspection at Kasturba Gandhi Girls School in Kalugotla
Later, the Collector made a surprise visit to Kasturba Gandhi Girls School in Kalugotla village, Undavalli Mandal. This followed a snake bite incident involving a female student who was taken to the hospital. The Collector spoke with the student about her health.
He emphasized the importance of keeping the school surroundings clean to avoid snakes and other pests. The premises must always be hygienic.
The Collector checked school registers, insisting on full attendance from teachers and students. He reiterated that nutritious food must be served daily as per the official menu.
