Nalgonda: District Collector ILA Tripati has asked farmers to bring paddy to procurement centers without moisture and husk. She stressed that the paddy should meet quality standards to ensure smooth procurement.
On Wednesday, she opened Rabi paddy procurement centers in Veliminedu and Pedakaparthi villages of Chityal Mandal. These centers are run by Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS). Along with local MLA Vemula Veeresham, she also inaugurated a new building in Veliminedu that was built with ₹22 lakhs from the society’s own funds.
Speaking to the media, the Collector said that 384 procurement centers have been set up in the district for the Rabi season. She explained that these centers are equipped with basic facilities like drinking water, ORS packets, tents, and chairs. Officials and staff are working together to ensure the smooth operation of these centers.
In the Nakrekal constituency alone, 50 procurement centers have been opened—45 for regular paddy and 5 for the fine variety. Farmers were urged to bring paddy that meets the standards and make use of the government-announced Minimum Support Price (MSP). The MSP is ₹2,300 per quintal for regular paddy, ₹2,320 for Grade-A paddy, and there is an extra ₹500 bonus for fine variety paddy.
The Collector asked farmers to cooperate with staff and make sure their paddy is clean and dry. She told officials to make quick purchases and send the paddy to rice mills. Payments to farmers should be made directly to their bank accounts within two to three days.
She also said that farmers should be taught how to bring paddy that meets the quality requirements. Agricultural extension officers will give certificates confirming the quality. To help with this, both automatic and manual paddy cleaning machines have been installed at the centers.
MLA Vemula Veeresham, District Cooperative Officer Patyanaik, local leaders, and other officials attended the event.
