Hyderabad: Dr. Anasuya Seethakka, the Minister for Panchayati Raj & Rural Development, announced that the government is committed to supporting women’s welfare. At the opening of the first-ever three-day Telangana State Women Police Officers’ Conference, she encouraged women officers to work with dedication and bravery. She urged them to adapt to changing situations while maintaining discipline and dignity.
Dr. Seethakka urged participants to use the event to discuss their concerns and offer suggestions. She expressed pride in the growing number of women officers and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to the welfare of women and children. The Minister promised special attention to training, safety, and facilities for women police officers, particularly those from rural areas.
She proposed creating a dedicated cell for women police issues under the DGP and suggested forming a study team to explore best practices from Tamil Nadu and other states. Dr. Seethakka stressed the importance of counseling services to protect mental health and reduce stress among women officers, ensuring they do not become victims themselves.
Abhilasha Bisht, the Police Academy Director, informed the Minister about the conference’s objectives and key themes. During the event, officers from constable to DGP rank will join in five groups to discuss issues and prepare a report for the Chief Minister.
Around 400 officers from nearly 90 police stations in Telangana and other uniformed services like Prisons and Forest Departments are attending the conference. The Academy provides accommodation for all participants. Notable attendees include DIG Vineet from Madhya Pradesh, Swathi Lakra (Additional DGP), Balanagadevi (Additional DGP), Charu Sinha (Additional DGP), G Kavitha, Venkateshwarlu, several SP-rank officers, and Academy staff.
