Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan has directed officials to urgently resolve issues in Lakshmi Nagar Colony, Attapur. On Tuesday, accompanied by Zonal Commissioner Venkanna, he visited the area. During the visit, the Colony Welfare Association sought his help for their ongoing challenges. Karnan also met with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) from Lakshmi Nagar and nearby areas in the Rajendranagar Circle. The residents highlighted problems like mosquitoes, stray dogs, inadequate street lighting, and illegal waste dumping on the Musi riverbed at night.

One critical issue was traffic congestion from Attapur Main Road (Pillar No 119) to Bapughat Road. Residents asked for road widening and stricter rules against using single-use plastics by vendors. Karnan instructed Zonal and Deputy Commissioners to take prompt action. He stressed that environmental protection requires everyone’s involvement and urged regular fogging with RWAs’ participation.

The Commissioner promised to fix the street lighting issues soon. He also called for a ban on single-use plastics, urging street vendors and shop owners to be vigilant, and residents to help eliminate these plastics. Karnan emphasized the shared duty of environmental protection and mentioned steps taken to manage stray dogs. He gave immediate orders to address these issues and assured ongoing oversight. Present at the meeting were Deputy Commissioner Ravi Kumar, Town Planning ACP Sridhar, Senior Entomologist Srinivas, AE Uday, AE Rajesh, IBD Manager Ashok, AMOH Rajinikanth, and the sanitation team.
