Hyderabad: Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narsimha announced on Friday that the government will set up trauma care centres across Telangana. These centres aim to save lives during road accidents and other emergencies by providing quick and effective treatment.
The Minister made this announcement while inaugurating a new Dialysis Centre at the Toopran Community Health Centre (CHC). This is the 16th dialysis centre opened in the State within the past year. The new centre comes with five dialysis machines. He said that people in the area no longer need to travel far for treatment, as they can now receive dialysis services right in Toopran.
He added that the government is working to increase the number of dialysis centres and machines across the State. This will help reduce waiting times for patients. So far, dialysis services are being provided to around 13,800 people in the State.
Minister Damodar explained that due to changing lifestyles, more people are suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes. If these conditions are not managed, they can lead to kidney damage, resulting in the need for dialysis. The government is also offering free organ transplants under the Aarogyasri scheme in both government and private hospitals for patients with completely damaged organs.
To support dialysis patients further, the government is setting up seven vascular centres across the State at a cost of around ₹33 crore. These centres will carry out necessary vascular surgeries.
The Minister also pointed out that cancer cases are on the rise. He said that early detection is key to curing cancer. To help with this, mobile screening vehicles are now available, and the government is planning to set up regional cancer centres in every unified district.
In addition, a trauma care centre and CT scan services will be established in Toopran. The Minister said that the government is not only improving medical services in government hospitals but also working to make hospital environments more pleasant. Funds are being allocated to enhance the atmosphere of Toopran Hospital.
