Hyderabad Police Commissioner Sri V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, has reaffirmed his commitment to eliminating food adulteration in the city, which poses serious health risks to residents. On Monday, he conducted a comprehensive inspection of the H-FAST office in Begum Bazaar, a specialized unit established to combat food adulteration across the city.
During his visit, the Commissioner thoroughly examined various sections of the office including the reception area, inspector’s room, Sub-Inspector’s rooms, lockups, and women’s staff rest rooms. The inspection was aimed at assessing the operational readiness and infrastructure of the dedicated food safety enforcement wing.
Following the inspection, Sri V.C. Sajjanar convened a special meeting with field-level staff to understand the ground realities of their work. He inquired about the challenges and obstacles they encounter while performing their duties and assured them that their concerns would be addressed promptly. The Commissioner emphasized the importance of providing adequate support to the teams working on the frontlines of food safety enforcement.
Expressing satisfaction over the team’s achievements, the Commissioner highlighted that H-FAST teams have registered 117 cases across the city and seized approximately 129.34 tons of adulterated food items from February until now. He commended the wing for gaining nationwide recognition in such a short period, attributing this success to the collective effort and dedication of the entire staff.
Describing food adulteration as a serious threat to society, Sri V.C. Sajjanar stated that it is shortening the lifespan of citizens. He urged all staff members to regard the mission of making Hyderabad adulteration-free as a sacred duty and work with complete dedication. The Commissioner directed that those involved in the adulteration business, which endangers people’s lives, should be dealt with strictly according to the law. He informed that the police are implementing a comprehensive plan in constant coordination with Food Safety officials.
During the event, CP Sri V.C. Sajjanar presented appreciation certificates to 108 police personnel who demonstrated exceptional performance in their duties. While recognizing their efforts, he also issued strict instructions to the staff, warning that no one should indulge in illegal activities. He made it clear that any breach of discipline would result in strict departmental action against the concerned personnel.
The Commissioner appealed to the public to actively cooperate in this fight against food adulteration by providing information to the police. He emphasized that public participation is crucial in making Hyderabad a safer city with clean and healthy food for all residents.
