HYDRAA Praja Vani received a total of 43 complaints on Monday from residents across various parts of Hyderabad who are facing severe difficulties due to unauthorized encroachments on public roads and pathways. Citizens have raised concerns about illegal gates, watchmen booths, and fencing being erected across roads that are obstructing free movement and causing significant inconvenience to daily commuters.
Representatives from Sri Padmaraju Nagar Colony filed a complaint regarding Overseas Bank Colony in Keesara Mandal, Kapra Municipality. According to the complaint, despite not being a designated gated community, fencing has been illegally erected across the pathway connecting four colonies, and gates have been installed that are blocking access to residents. The complainants have demanded immediate removal of these unauthorized obstructions.
In Siddhi Vinayaka Nagar, Suraram Village, Qutubullapur Mandal, residents reported that a 30-foot road has been completely encroached upon, leaving no connecting route to Narsapur Main Road. This encroachment has effectively cut off an essential link for the local population, forcing them to take longer alternative routes for their daily commute.
A serious complaint from Nacharam highlighted encroachment in survey numbers 157 and 162, where a layout originally designed with 416 square yards plots has been illegally expanded. Residents stated that the adjacent road has been encroached upon to increase plot sizes to 639 square yards. Sheds have been constructed on this encroached land and are being rented out for commercial purposes. Local residents have demanded that the road be protected and restored to its original width.
In Jeedimetla Division, under SR Nayak Nagar Colony, a layout was established in 1984 with 11,000 square yards of land specifically allocated for a park and public amenities. Colony representatives complained that this public land is now being systematically encroached upon by unauthorized parties. They have urged HYDRAA to take immediate action to reclaim the land for its intended public use.
Locals from Road No. 2 in Sheikpet Mandal, survey number 129/11, reported that approximately 7 acres of government land within their limits is being encroached upon with illegal constructions. The complainants expressed concern that valuable public land is being grabbed by encroachers who are putting up permanent structures without any legal authorization.
HYDRAA Additional Commissioner Sri Varla Papayya Garu has reviewed all the complaints received on Monday and has assigned resolution responsibilities to the relevant officials. The authorities are expected to conduct field inspections and take appropriate action against the encroachments to restore public access to roads and protect government land from further illegal occupation.
