The Mailardevpally Police conducted a major raid on an illegal food manufacturing unit operating in Katedan, Hyderabad. The unit, running under the name “Madhurai Meenakshi Food Company”, was found producing bakery items in extremely unhygienic conditions using hazardous materials.
During the operation, authorities apprehended three persons responsible for running the illegal establishment. The accused have been identified as Afridi Ansari (22), a supervisor and resident of Katedan who is originally from Jharkhand; Yaseen (32), the manager residing in Indra Society, Katedan; and Khatreshan, a resident of Bandlaguda, Chandrayangutta.
Police discovered that the accused were manufacturing donut buns and cakes using rotten eggs and dangerous chemicals. The hazardous substances found at the premises included sodium benzoate, sorbic acid, and PGPR liquid. These ingredients posed serious health risks to consumers, particularly children who are the primary consumers of such bakery products.
The investigation revealed that the adulterated food items were being sold in the market as genuine products. The unhygienic manufacturing conditions and use of spoiled raw materials exposed unsuspecting customers to potential health hazards. The unit had been operating without proper licenses or health department approvals.
Authorities seized a substantial quantity of evidence from the illegal facility. The confiscated items included spoiled eggs, harmful chemicals, finished bakery products, synthetic colours and flavours, and various machinery used in the manufacturing process. All seized materials have been taken into police custody for further examination.
The Mailardevpally Police Station has registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of food safety laws. The operation highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to crack down on illegal food manufacturing units that compromise public health and safety standards.
The raid was part of increased vigilance against unauthorized food production facilities operating in residential areas of Hyderabad. Such illegal units often operate in hidden locations to avoid detection by food safety inspectors and law enforcement authorities.
Further investigation into the matter is currently underway. Police are examining the supply chain to identify retailers and distributors who may have been selling these adulterated products. Authorities are also investigating how long the illegal unit had been operational and the extent of its distribution network across the city.
