Chicken Shops Across Telangana to Remain Closed from April 1

Chicken shops across Telangana will shut down indefinitely starting April 1, as announced by the Telangana Chicken Shop Owners Association. The association has called for a statewide bandh to protest against mounting financial pressures that have made their businesses unsustainable. The decision will affect thousands of chicken vendors and consumers across the state, including major cities like Hyderabad, Warangal, and Karimnagar.

The primary reason behind the indefinite closure is the sharp decline in profit margins for chicken shop owners. Vendors have reported that rising operational costs have severely impacted their ability to earn a sustainable income. The association has highlighted that the current market conditions do not allow them to cover their expenses while keeping prices affordable for consumers.

Shop owners are facing significant challenges due to increasing costs of transport and poultry feed. The prices of essential feed ingredients have risen substantially in recent months, directly affecting the cost of raising chickens. Additionally, transportation expenses have surged, making it difficult for vendors to maintain their supply chains without incurring heavy losses.

Another critical factor contributing to the bandh is the high bird mortality rate during the summer season. The intense heat in Telangana during summer months has led to increased deaths among chickens, resulting in substantial financial losses for shop owners. The combination of weather-related mortality and rising input costs has pushed many vendors to the brink of shutting down their businesses permanently.

The Telangana Chicken Shop Owners Association has stated that the bandh will continue until their demands are addressed by relevant authorities. The indefinite closure is expected to impact the daily supply of chicken across the state, potentially leading to shortages and price fluctuations in the coming days. The association is seeking intervention to help stabilize costs and ensure the survival of small chicken vendors across Telangana.
