Hyderabad: Meenakshi Natarajan, the AICC state in-charge, has instructed party leaders to stop discussing the candidate choice for the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election. She emphasized the importance of strengthening the party’s presence in the city.
At a Political Affairs Committee meeting on Tuesday, Natarajan insisted the by-election “must be won at any cost.” Ponnam Prabhakar, the city in-charge Minister, will coordinate efforts within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for the election.
Amidst rumors about candidate selection, even Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has confirmed that no candidate is finalized yet and asked members to halt discussions.
Natarajan promised that dedicated party workers will receive roles in various committees and political positions. She mentioned field reviews are underway to bolster the party at village, mandal, and district levels. She highlighted the government’s commitment to its promises and suggested that Panchayat Sangathan play a crucial role in the upcoming local elections.
To address internal conflicts, Natarajan proposed appointing two observers per district and identifying dedicated members for committees. She urged activists to communicate the government’s achievements, like the 42% BC quota, SC classification, and caste census, to the public and to counter what she called the “false propaganda of the BJP and BRS.“
