Hyderabad: Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy shared that 1.03 lakh Indiramma houses are currently under construction in the state. The work is moving quickly.
In a meeting at the Secretariat, the Minister mentioned that each Indiramma house receives 40 metric tonnes of sand for free. He urged officials to help beneficiaries make the most of this offer. He noted that 3 lakh houses have been approved, with 2.37 lakh beneficiaries receiving their sanction documents. Construction has begun on 1.03 lakh houses, with work ongoing in different stages.
The government aims to build 4.50 lakh Indiramma houses this year, with a budget of Rs 22,500 crore. This means about 3,500 houses per constituency. Beneficiaries have been chosen in 88 out of 95 constituencies, except in the GHMC area. The Minister asked officials to keep a close eye on the basement construction, especially with the monsoon coming.
Despite financial challenges, the state ensures payments to beneficiaries every Monday based on construction progress. These payments go directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts in four stages, reducing the chance of middlemen interference. After the basement is done, Rs 1 lakh is given. Rs 1.25 lakh is released after wall completion, Rs 1.75 lakh after the slab, and Rs 1 lakh after finishing the remaining work.
