Hyderabad: In a major push to tackle traffic congestion in one of the city’s busiest zones, authorities have accelerated infrastructure works around KBR Park and Jubilee Hills under a massive ₹1,090 crore project. The plan focuses on creating signal-free corridors through a combination of flyovers, underpasses, and junction improvements.
Large-Scale Infrastructure Upgrade
The project includes the construction of 7 flyovers and 7 underpasses, aimed at improving connectivity and reducing travel time across key routes surrounding Jubilee Hills, Film Nagar, and Panjagutta.
Officials say the initiative is designed to deliver smoother traffic flow, better road safety, and faster connectivity in areas that currently experience heavy congestion during peak hours.
Phase-Wise Execution Plan
The project is being executed in two major phases:
Phase 1 – ₹580 Crore
- Y-shaped grade separator from Road No. 45 to Yousufguda via Jubilee Hills Checkpost
- 4-lane steel flyover from KBR Park entrance to Road No. 36
- 2-lane flyover connecting Yousufguda to Road No. 45
- Underpasses from Panjagutta Road No. 2 towards Cancer Hospital Junction
Phase 2 – ₹510 Crore
- Traffic improvement works around Film Nagar Junction
- Upgrades at Maharaja Agrasen Junction
Once completed, authorities aim to make signal-free travel a reality across major stretches in Jubilee Hills.
Tree Relocation and Environmental Measures
As part of the project, around 1,500 trees have been identified for removal, with trimming and clearing already underway. However, officials stated that 380 trees will be scientifically relocated with their roots intact.
Replantation efforts are planned in areas such as Shamshabad and Shaikpet Rock Garden, in an attempt to balance infrastructure development with environmental considerations.
Target Completion by 2026
The entire project is targeted for completion by 2026. Once operational, it is expected to significantly reduce traffic bottlenecks, improve urban mobility, and enhance the overall commuting experience in one of Hyderabad’s most important corridors.
With increasing vehicle density in the city, projects like this are seen as critical to ensuring long-term traffic management and sustainable urban growth.
