Hyderabad: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy strongly criticized Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge for his inappropriate comments during a recent meeting. Reddy expressed his disapproval on Saturday, stating that Kharge’s remarks were unbecoming of a leader of his stature. He suggested that Kharge had stooped to the level of a local leader, indicating the decline of the Congress party. Reddy questioned whether these comments were Kharge’s own or influenced by others, attributing them to frustration over Congress’s repeated failures.
Reddy found it absurd that Kharge blamed the Modi government for not capturing PoK. He argued that the situation in Kashmir was due to past mistakes by the Nehru government in 1948. He questioned why the Indian army was withdrawn from PoK at that time and noted that even though India defeated Pakistan in 1971, then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi did not seize PoK. Additionally, Reddy pointed out that 90,000 Pakistani soldiers were released unconditionally after being captured. He highlighted the Modi government‘s actions in destroying terrorist camps in PoK following the Pahalgam attack and mentioned operations like Sindoor and the Balakot air strikes as evidence of India’s increased strength under Modi’s leadership. He questioned the UPA government’s lack of response to various terrorist attacks, including the Mumbai attacks and the attack on Parliament.
Reddy emphasized that the Modi government had empowered the Indian Army to effectively respond to terror attacks, unlike during the UPA rule. He accused Rahul Gandhi and other leaders of speaking in a manner favorable to Pakistan by demanding proof of India’s military actions. Reddy also accused Kharge of misleading the public about the terms “secular” and “socialist” in the Constitution’s Preamble. He reminded that in 1975, Congress amended the Constitution, jailing opposition leaders. He clarified that the BJP has never opposed the inclusion of these terms and asserted that any statements by some RSS leaders about debating these terms do not reflect BJP’s stance. He called such attributions to BJP false.
Reddy concluded by recalling Congress’s misleading campaign during the last Lok Sabha elections, where they claimed BJP would alter the Constitution and end reservations if elected. He accused Congress of repeating similar propaganda to mask its shortcomings in Telangana.
