Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy praised the rapid development of national highways in Telangana, crediting it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.
He spoke during a public event celebrating the opening of the Amberpet Flyover and other infrastructure projects. Reddy pointed out that when Telangana became a state in 2014, it had only 2,500 kilometers of national highways. Today, that number has doubled to over 5,000 kilometers.
“This growth in road networks is a major achievement,” Reddy said. “It supports farmers, boosts industrial growth, creates jobs, and improves connectivity, all of which are essential for overall development.”
He emphasized that under Modi’s leadership, India has seen major improvements in roads, railways, and ports over the past ten years.
Talking specifically about Hyderabad, Reddy mentioned several key projects now open to the public, including the Bombay Highway Flyover, Aramghar Flyover, and the newly inaugurated Amberpet Flyover. He shared that he personally worked on the Amberpet Flyover during his time as a local legislator.
However, Reddy noted that land acquisition for service roads below the Amberpet Flyover is still unfinished in six areas. He urged the state government to act quickly so the project can be fully completed.
In addition to roadwork, Reddy highlighted the construction of 21 government schools and over 100 community halls in the Amberpet area. He acknowledged that road widening efforts began during N.T. Rama Rao’s leadership but had stalled due to local challenges.
To overcome these issues, steel bridges were built at two critical points of the flyover project. “Despite the difficulties, we completed the Amberpet Flyover to serve the people,” Reddy said.
The minister concluded by stressing the central government’s commitment to infrastructure and development in Telangana.
