Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) in Nalgonda marked an important day on Saturday. Minister Komatireddy Venkatreddy visited the campus to lay the foundation stone for several new infrastructure projects.
The projects include a new Administrative building, an additional building for the Girls’ hostel, and the second phase of the campus CC roads. These developments, costing Rs 37 crore, aim to improve the university’s facilities. During the event, the first phase of the CC road project was also inaugurated.
In addition to the infrastructure plans, Minister Komatireddy donated books worth Rs 10 lakh to the university’s library. The donation was made through the ‘Komatireddy Pratheek Foundation.’ Nakrekal MLA, Vemual Veerasham, was also present at the event.
While speaking to the students, the Minister encouraged them to take inspiration from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He urged the students to aim for innovative solutions to the problems society faces today. “The world needs skilled professionals who can create positive change,” he said.
He also promised to continue supporting the university by addressing its needs in the State cabinet. He emphasized that he would work to resolve issues related to job security, funding, and the creation of a Skill Development Centre on campus.
Later in the day, Minister Komatireddy visited the university’s library to officially open the new collection of books donated by his foundation.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Khaja Althaf Hussain also shared plans to improve the university. He suggested converting self-financed courses into budgeted ones to get government funding. He also proposed creating permanent faculty positions and introducing new academic programs, along with a skill development centre to prepare students for future careers.
