Reviving Traditions at Yadadri Temple
In the town of Yadadri, Government Whip and Aler MLA Beerla Ilaiah announced plans to bring back old traditions at the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple. Speaking at the inauguration of the “Snana Sankalpam” ritual in Vishnu Pushkarini and the continuous lamp worship ceremony on the Yadadri hill, he noted that people used to take a traditional dip in the Pushkarini, which had stopped over time. Now, devotees can once again engage in this practice and offer coconuts as part of their vows before entering the temple.
Ilaiah emphasized the support of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Endowments Minister Konda Surekha, Ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy, and MP Chamal Kiran Kumar Reddy in further developing the temple. He criticized former CM KCR for dismantling traditional inns, known as satras, under the guise of development and pledged to rebuild them. Additionally, he revealed plans to construct 1,000 rooms at the hill’s base to accommodate devotees. Earlier in the day, Ilaiah and his family took a holy dip in the Pushkarini and participated in the Sankalpa Puja. The event saw participation from EO Bhaskar Rao, hereditary trustee B. Narsimha Murthy, and several leaders, priests, and temple officials.
The Giri Pradakshina ceremony, celebrating Swati Nakshatra, the birth star of Lord Laxmi Narasimha Swamy, was conducted with grandeur. Early in the morning, temple priests began the event with special rituals at Vaikuntha Dwaram. Devotees joined in with deep spirituality, chanting Narasimha’s name as they walked the sacred path around the hill. After completing the pradakshina, devotees climbed the steps to have darshan of Sri Swami. Inside the temple, the Swati Homam was held in the Mukha Mandapam to commemorate the occasion.
