Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) has signed an important agreement with the Maharashtra government. The deal is for the development of two large Pumped Storage Projects, which will have a total capacity of 4000 megawatts (MW). These projects are the Kamod Pumped Storage Project in Nandurbar District and the Ghosla Pumped Storage Project in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar District.
This is the first time MEIL is working on pumped storage hydro projects using the ‘Build-Operate-Maintain (BOM)’ model. The total cost of these two projects is expected to be around Rs. 21,100 crores. The projects will also create jobs for approximately 2,500 people.
MEIL aims to complete the Ghosla Pumped Storage Project in about three and a half years. The Kamod Pumped Storage Project is expected to take five years to finish. The agreement was signed in the presence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deepak Kapoor, who is the Additional Chief Secretary of the Water Resources Department. MEIL was represented by company President R.V.R. Kishore, along with other officials including Girish, Ravi Kiran, and Sameer Jha.
