Hyderabad is getting ready for a special event on May 13, as the contestants of the 72nd Miss World Pageant will take part in a colorful Heritage Walk through the city’s famous landmarks.
This exciting walk will happen in the Old City, stretching between the historic Charminar and the vibrant Laad Bazaar. The path is known not only for its beauty but also for its deep cultural roots. It will be the perfect backdrop as women from across the globe explore Hyderabad’s rich past and traditions.
Contestants from across the world—including countries like India, Nepal, USA, Canada, England, South Africa, Venezuela, Gibraltar, Martinique, and Curaçao—will join the walk. These women represent various continents such as Asia-Oceania, Europe, Africa, America, and the Caribbean.
The highlight of the walk is the Charminar, a monument built in 1591 that stands as a proud symbol of Hyderabad. It’s also being considered for UNESCO World Heritage recognition. Along the way, the group will also visit the famous Laad Bazaar, a 400-year-old marketplace known for its traditional bangles, pearls, perfumes, and Islamic handicrafts.
The Miss World 2024 journey began with a grand opening at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium on Saturday. The dazzling event featured a traditional costume parade with contestants from 120 countries. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy declared the event open, with Miss World CEO Julia Morley and reigning Miss World Krystyna Pyszková in attendance.
Over the next three weeks, the contestants will travel across Telangana. Their journey includes visits to scenic and historic spots like Nagarjunasagar and Buddhavanam. The goal is to spotlight the region’s culture and promote Telangana tourism to a global audience. Since the event will be broadcast in over 150 countries, organizers hope it brings international attention to the state’s heritage.
This unique mix of beauty, culture, and history promises to make the 72nd Miss World event a memorable celebration in Hyderabad.
